BATL, the Battle of Atlanta Commemoration Organization, a nonprofit based in the neighborhoods located on the battlefield, has scheduled one tour each month for 2023. There are three different walking tours that rotate with trained volunteer tour guides leading the tours. These take place in different areas of the 3- to 4-square-mile battlefield.
You may still have time to reserve the Atlanta Preservation Center’s Phoenix Flies BATL offering on March 19 at 2:00pm. This tour fills up fast, so you may have already missed it and reservations are definitely required. You can check online at www.atlantapreservationcenter.com/phoenix_flies You can also check out the many other free offerings for Phoenix Flies at this website.
BATL tours for the rest of the year are listed online at www.BATLevent.org with tickets available for $15.00. The tours include the “Front Lines Tour” around the East Atlanta Village and the “Civil War to Civil Rights Tour” featuring Civil Rights history and sites as well as Civil War history and sites from 100 years earlier. It is not too late to reserve for the next upcoming tour on April 19 at 2:00pm, another “The Front Lines Tour”, but this time with ticket reservations at the BATL website.
