Editor’s note: Due to our Calendar editor falling ill, our calendar was not updated this month. We hope to have it return next month. Calendar items for May should be sent to calendar@theporchpress.com with “info4calendar” in the subject line, or call Nancy Leighton at 404-624-3082 and leave a message.The next deadline for the calendar will be April 25, 2018. Calendar events take place in southeast Atlanta. The area is south of I-20 to Moreland Drive and includes Grant Park, Ormewood Park and East Atlanta.
 
Weekly Activities
The following activities take place every week as listed.
CHILDREN/STORY TIME
Tiny Tots Storytime. East Atlanta Library, 400 Flat Shoals Avenue SE, for newborns to 5years, 10:30am (every Tue).
Cub Scout Pack 688. Park Avenue Baptist Church, 524 Park Avenue SE at the corner of Sydney Street. Contact David Griffin, 678-849-8619, or email griffin.david@yahoo.com.
Art Attack. Art classes for children ages 2-10, Rhen’s Nest Toy Shop, 924 Garrett Street SE, Glenwood Park, $8, 1:30pm (every Tues).
 
SENIOR ACTIVITIES
Golden Age Center. St Paul United Methodist Church, 501 Grant Street SE, Rm R2. All senior citizens welcome 10:00am-2:00pm (Tues and Thurs).
 
OTHER GROUPS
Sunday Running Group. East Atlanta Village, meet at Flat Shoals and Glenwood Avenues near Joe’s Coffee Shop, 3-mile run, 9:00am (Every Sunday).
Friendship Center. Church of the Holy Comforter, 737 Woodland Avenue SE, 9:00am-1:00pm (Tues and Thurs).
Alcoholics Anonymous (AA)
-Georgia Avenue Church, 645 Grant Street SE, basement, 8:00pm-9:00pm (Thurs and Sat).

Apr 19                       Village Speakers Toastmasters Group. First Iconium Baptist Church, 542 Moreland Ave SE, Rm 104, 6:15pm-7:45pm (1st & 3rd Thurs).
Three Angles Toastmasters Club. Atlanta Metropolitan Seventh Day Adventist Church, 555 Hemlock Cir SE, 7:30pm-8:30pm (1st, 3rd, 5th Thurs.)
                                    South East Atlanta Business Association (SEABA). Local establishment to be announced, for more information call 404-226-3075, or check www.seabaga.org. Time varies (3rd Thurs).
                                    The Filling Station: A Place to Refuel For The Chronically Ill. Park Avenue Baptist Church, 486 Park Avenue SE, Young Adults’ room, handicapped entrance in rear alley off Sydney Street. May 29                      Summer Dance and Acting Camp. Kids Dance 411 is offering a Summer Dance and Acting Camp from May 29 through August 3. Ages range from 5-13.
