Announcing A CHaRM’ing Evening, 2022

By Andi Frey

Live Thrive, a nonprofit sustainability organization and founder of CHaRM, the Center for Hard to Recycle Materials, has announced its annual fundraiser A CHaRM’ing Evening.

A CHaRM’ing Evening is the annual fundraiser for Live Thrive in support of its educational initiatives and the operational costs to run CHaRM, Atlanta’s only permanent drop-off facility that aims to improve environmental health by encouraging reuse and diverting thousands of pounds of household hazardous waste and hard-to-recycle items from Metro-Atlanta landfills and water systems.

Guests at A CHaRM’ing Evening will enjoy delicious food, cocktails, and a live performance
by Yacht Rock Revue. Requested attire is 70’s and 80’s best. The event will take place on Thursday, October 20, 2022, from 6:30-10:00pm at Venkman’s,  740 Ralph McGill Blvd. NE.

Tickets include two drink tickets, heavy hors d’oeuvres and Yacht Rock Revue performance: $50 through August 12, $60 through September 14, $70 beginning September 15, or $80 at the door and is generously sponsored by Delta Air Lines, Chick-fil-A, and other Atlanta-based businesses.

In 2021 alone, the CHaRM reused/recycled/reengineered more than 31 tons of Styrofoam, 274 tons of chemicals, 251 tons of glass, 1727 mattresses and much more for a total of 4,371,000 pounds of materials. Proceeds from this fundraiser will support the expansion of Live Thrive’s outreach, including the opening of a second zero waste facility in late 2022.  Despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic and nearly three months of closure, CHaRM’s intake increased during 2020 and 2021.

(Live Thrive is a 501 (c) 3 that empowers people, organizations, universities, communities, and businesses to make positive, healthy, and sustainable changes to the environment through partnerships and community events.
