GPNA Monthly Meeting Minutes – Tuesday, December 14, 2021

Call to Order–7:30pm

President’s Introduction

Announcement of appointment of Samantha McKinley for 2022 Fundraising Chair.

Treasurer’s Update: Grant requests are presented at the general membership meetings in January, April, July and October then voted on by the general membership the following month. End of year donations are encouraged.

Special Orders

Item One – Public Safety: Zone 6 Update – LRB (License & Review Board) for The Beverly Restaurant at 790 Glenwood. Addition of 800 sq/ft. Neighbors should be aware for street lights that are out & contact Georgia Power. NPU vehicle larceny map; reminder to keep cars clean of valuables & not to leave car with keys in it while it warms up.

Item Two – Land Use & Zoning: U-21-14 – The Beacon Paid Parking Application. Denied by City Council at Dec 6 meeting. All other SUPs in NPU-W by the same applicant also denied. Should the applicant wish to submit any of these applications again, they must wait until December of next year. Special Administrative Permit for 655 Memorial Drive/The New School (Across from Petit Chou). The school wishes to construct a new 2-story addition to their main building. The school would also construct a new parking configuration and change road curb cuts to city standard. NPU-W & GPNA can review and provide comment on the application, it is a nonvoting item. December GPNA LUZ Meeting will be the 3rd Thursday, December 16 at 7:00pm. We return to the usual 4th Thursday schedule in January. Nonvoting Item for December 16th LUZ Meeting. 2022 NPU-W LUZ Committee Co-Chairs will be Skyler Hassan & Michael Snyder (Vice-President of SAND). Meeting schedule will remain as the 1st Tuesdays at 7:00pm. Skyler Hassan will continue to chair the NPU-W Transportation committee.

Item Three – Homes & History: Design regulations rewrite has finished with the city, and we’ll be moving to the reading focus in January 2022. Call for volunteers.

Item Four – Community Items: Beltline Southside Trail Update by Director of Planning, Lynnette Reid & Director of Design, Kevin Burke. Reminder that they’re updating the Subarea 4 Master Plan. The EPA grant applies to segment 2-3. The next meeting will be January 20, 2022 6:30pm – 8:00pm.

Item Five – Transportation: Street topper signs update. 60 intersections that have toppers and about 130 intersections that don’t have street toppers. We’re looking at fundraising the complete the street toppers in the neighborhood.
