Candidate for Communications Chair – Sarah Divya; Unanimously approved.

City of Atlanta Department of Public Works resumed weekly operations of solid waste (garbage), recycling, and yard trimmings on Monday, June 7.

Zone 6 (5 minutes) | Lt Sinks – Criminal Investigations Unit: Centralizing investigations as opposed to decentralized by Zone. More collaborative approach to investigations. APD has created a specialized unit for property burglaries, such as thefts from automobiles.

City/State/School/Other Elected Officials (5 minutes): Department of Public Works Office of Solid Waste Services resumed weekly collection of solid waste, recycling, and yard trimming on 6/7.

Update from Working Group on future of Red’s Farm. Paul Bolster: Waiting on a new draft of a conservation easement from GA/AL Land Trust.

Treasurer (5 minutes): Amazon Smile / Kroger Rewards. Trolleys available for $45 unpainted, $60 painted.

Education/Schools (5 minutes): King Middle School and Maynard Jackson High School town halls scheduled for 6/15 and 6/22, respectively. School schedules are an item for discussion.

Transportation (15 minutes): Update on Moreland/Glenwood Realignment. Per ATLDOT, project progress has slowed due to soil contamination due to gasoline. Soil is being tested by EPD using ground penetrating radar to confirm ability to move forward with completion of project. Meeting set for 6/16 to review results of penetrating radar and decide on remediation plan. Updates will be sent out to the community following this meeting. PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE for proposed MARTA bus service changes Saturday, June 12 at 11:00am. Learn more at www.itsmarta.com/public-hearings-meetings.aspx. A transit solution is in the works to extend the existing downtown Streetcar to the BeltLine at Irwin Street and up to the Poncey-Highland neighborhood. Land Use and Zoning (LU&Z) (5 minutes per): BL-21-020 / 1304 Boulevard – Proposal to develop 38 townhomes on the subject parcel. SAP-21-064 / 1160 Ormewood – Proposal to develop 22 townhomes on the subject parcel. SD-21-010 / 1046-1056 Berne – Proposal to subdivide the (2) subject parcels into (3) parcels creating a new parcel on Hemlock Cir. This is a follow-up action from the rezoning for which NPU-W recommended approval in October 2020.
