GPNA Monthly Meeting Minutes – Tuesday, April 20, 2021

Call to Order–7:30pm.

President’s Introduction

Announcement of appointments – Evelyn Pannell voted on and confirmed as Treasurer. Approval of the March Minutes

Item One – Public Safety: Zone 6 update from Lt. Carroll, Jcarroll@atlantaga.gov. Reminder to not leave valuables in a car, ~12 car break-ins. Question about speeding on Boulevard, request for an officer to be stationed there. Question about involvement in Policing Alternatives & Diversion program, APD does work with PAD. Question about 25 MPH city-wide limit making it easier to ticket, Estrellita, 580 Woodward Avenue – change of agent. Going forward to NPU-W for approval. Little Tart Bakeshop, 437 Memorial Drive – new application. Sarah O’Brien, owner, presents. Little Tart, took over the whole space of their Grant Park location, and they’re looking to sell cocktails with brunch. Going forward to NPU-W for approval. Emmy Squared, 475 Bill Kennedy Way SE – new application. Seth & Dana Resnick present about a new restaurant, Emmy Squared, serving Detroit style pizza. They have a temporary alcohol license. Going forward to NPU-W for approval. Update on call with the National Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion. A group from NPU-W had a meeting with the LEAD program. Unaware of any diversions in Grant Park recently, but they’re working to LEAD & PAD to see that implemented in our neighborhoods

Item Two – Land Use & Zoning: 460 Connally – item, request, recommendation. Multiple variances were requested for the whole lot, which is a complicated issue that is being resolved. 3 houses on the parcel, neighbors approved design. Application deferred to May 2021 GPNA meeting. Review for SD-21-006 – 344/356 Kendrick Avenue. This application will be reviewed at April 22 at 7:00pm GPNA LUZ meeting- short review & applicant will be there. Question about resolution for affordable housing.

Item Three – Homes & History: Preservation Minute – reminder to not pressure wash historic siding.

New Business

Clarence Blalock announces that he’s running for city council in District 1.

Request to get Maynard Jackson High School events into The Porch Press.

NPU-W transportations are 3rd Monday of the month at 7:00pm.
