St. Paul Offers Kids Summer Camp Focused on Community Service

By Rebecca Wallace

Launching this summer, St. Paul Kids Serve has a mission to help kids become empowered stewards of their community through service. The summer camp will include service projects each week that partner with a community organization, while also offering traditional day camp activities.

“We know children are absorbing and feeling what we feel when we sense and see people in need in our community,” said Annie Deaderick, St. Paul’s Children and Youth Director and Director of St. Paul Kids Serve Camp. “They are never too young to learn what to do about it – to learn how we can all have a role in serving our brothers and sisters in need. “Also, we are going to have a blast, so we’d really love for our neighbors to join us!”

Except for one week for younger kids, St. Paul Kids Serve is for rising 2nd-5th graders. The schedule is as follows:

Week 1 June 7-11

Week 2 June 14-18

Week 3 June 21-25

Week 4 June 28- July 2 (Pre-K-Rising 2nd grade ONLY)

Week 5 July 19-23

All activities will be at St. Paul, in the park or at nearby attractions such as the zoo. The goal is to be outdoors as much as possible, and all campers and staff will social-distance and wear masks when indoors.

The cost per week is $200. A $50 non-refundable payment is required at the time of signing up to hold your child’s spot in camp. The balance is due the Monday one week before your child’s camp begins. The cost of camp includes a T-shirt for each week your child attends. All campers will bring their own lunch, and camp will provide two allergen-free snacks each day.
