As a freshman member of the U.S. House of Representatives Rep. Nikema Williams was assigned to two important committees that will have jurisdiction over federal programs important to Porch Press neighborhoods.
Transportation and Infrastructure: This committee will work on the Biden infrastructure bill. As the committee responsible for transportation policy, its work could include the issues related to safety and pedestrian crossing of Moreland Avenue.
Financial Services: This committee has jurisdiction over financial institutions and the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Expansion of affordable housing will come from this committee; it could create a consolidated federal agency to finance housing programs.
