Every season is preservation season, but this fall the Grant Park Conservancy (GPC) kicked off one of our biggest projects of the year, so we feel like we can claim this! Restoration of the historic Lion Bridge, one of the Grant Park’s (and Atlanta’s) oldest historic features, began in September and we could not be happier with its progress.
Restoration work on the Erskine Fountain is still underway and of course you can visit the recently restored Milledge Fountain, recently decorated for Halloween, at the park entrance at Cherokee and Milledge Avenues.
Preservation work is our primary focus this fall and we still need your help to complete our projects and restore these historic features to their (close to) original splendor. Purchase a Lion Bridge engraved paver, become a member, or donate to the GPC today. The next time you are in the park, take a look around and appreciate everything Atlanta’s oldest and most historic park has to offer.
After a six-month hiatus due to the global pandemic, Project G.R.A.N.T. returns to Grant Park. We are used to hosting up to 50 volunteers per work day, which makes a huge impact in the park. Because of COVID-19, we have had to cancel our work days and rethink how to execute them, and this has left a noticeable maintenance void.
We were pleased to bring back our work day program on Saturday, October 10, with a limited number of participants and safety and health guidelines in place. Even five volunteers can make a big impact, so please consider joining us. For more information, go to gpconservancy.org.
