Historic Oakland Foundation (HOF) is pleased to announce that after several weeks of construction, the East Gate entrance is now open. Located at the corner of Memorial Drive and Boulevard, the new gate offers easier access to Oakland Cemetery for residents of Cabbagetown, Reynoldstown, and Grant Park, as well as for those coming from the BeltLine. In addition, people heading to the King Memorial MARTA station from the east can now enjoy a shadier, more scenic commute. HOF invites visitors to enter through the East Gate and check out the restorations that are taking place in the East Hill section of the cemetery. Like Oakland’s other gates, the East Gate will be open from dawn to dusk daily.
Historic Oakland Foundation is currently raising funds to install wayfinding signage to help orient visitors coming through the new gate as well as additional interpretive panels, benches, and pet stations to add to the visitor experience.
