Victorian Holiday at Oakland Cemetery on December 14

By Marcy Breffle

Visit Historic Oakland Cemetery to add some history to the holiday season at the fifth annual Victorian Holiday program on Saturday, December 14 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Victorian Holiday is the final event of the year for Historic Oakland Foundation (HOF). All proceeds benefit HOF’s mission to preserve, restore, enhance, and share Atlanta’s oldest public burial ground and beloved city park.

Visitors will get a “behind-the-stones” look at some of Oakland’s magnificent mausoleums during the Holiday Tour of Eternal Homes. Tour tickets are available at www.oaklandcemetery.com/vh.

In addition to the mausoleum tour, Victorian Holiday includes a wide range of activities for all ages. Visitors can take photos with Saint Nicholas and his sidekick Rudolph while enjoying a reading of The Night Before Christmas. Kids can try their hand at Victorian crafts and ornament-making. The Holiday Market boasts unique gift items made from local artisans, and Victorian Holiday at Oakland attendees can take advantage of a 10 percent discount on items purchased in Oakland’s Museum Shop.

Bring a little Oakland home with you for the holidays at the annual Wreath Sale. Fraser fir wreaths will be available for purchase, and visitors can embellish their wreaths on-site with greenery harvested from Oakland’s gardens.
