Your neighborhood newspaper is in need of a person to review the ads that come in from our advertisers each month to confirm that they are formatted correctly before they go into the paper on production night. This person would check for size problems and computer glitches, contact the advertiser or the advertising department to get the ad fixed, or occasionally make simple fixes themselves.
The position requires a knowledge of graphic design software including Quark Xpress and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop and Illustrator). Limited design work is required. Ads come in once a month and are prepped before production night (the first Tuesday after the first Monday of each month). Prepped ads are uploaded onto the Porch Press DropBox website.
A big perk is working with the fun Porch Press volunteers, mostly via phone and email. Beyond that, the Ad Prep volunteer can get involved as much as they choose with production of the paper the first Tuesday, 11 times a year. For more information, call 404-377-6148 or email hbryantiii@comcast.net.
