East Atlanta Library Book Sale and Summer Reading Kickoff

By Nancy Mullins

The next Friends of East Atlanta Library (FEAL) book sale takes place on Saturday, June 8. The sale will coincide with the kickoff of the annual East Atlanta Library Summer Reading Program. The book sale is a great place to find titles to add to your home library for summer reading for the entire family.

There will be a bounce house, snow cone maker, and other fun activities like bubble-blowing and chalk art. Staff will be on hand to help register children ages 0 to 18 for the Summer Reading Program, a nationwide program to keep children motivated to read during the summer months. This year’s theme is A Universe of Stories. Children and teens can sign up online either at home or at the library at fultoncounty.beanstack.org to log the books they have read. The program runs from June 1 through August 1. Children who participate will be entered into a grand-prize drawing for reading, completing activities, and writing reviews. All children receive a prize for reading their first book and for completing the program, redeemable at the East Atlanta Library while supplies last.

FEAL is currently accepting donations of books. Books in good condition of almost any genre (except for encyclopedias, textbooks, and technical/computer/software manuals) are welcome. Anyone wishing to donate books is welcome to bring them to the front desk of the library during regular operating hours Monday through Saturday. Donations are tax deductible; ask librarians at the desk for a receipt.

The kickoff event will begin at 10:00am and run until 12:30pm. The book sale will open at 10:00am and run until 4:00pm. The East Atlanta Library is located at 400 Flat Shoals Avenue in East Atlanta Village. For more information, contact Meredith Latta at meredith.latta@fultoncountyga.gov.
