Editor’s note: Calendar items for upcoming months should be sent to calendar@theporchpress.com with “info4calendar” in the subject line. The next deadline for the calendar is September 25, 2018. Calendar events take place in southeast Atlanta, the area south of I-20 to Moreland Drive, and includes Grant Park, Ormewood Park, and East Atlanta.

CHILDREN/STORY TIME
Tiny Tots Storytime. East Atlanta Library, 400 Flat Shoals Avenue SE, for newborns to 5 years, 10:30am (every Tue).

Sunday Running Group. East Atlanta Village, meet at Flat Shoals and Glenwood Avenues near Joe’s Coffee Shop, 3-mile run, 9:00am (Every Sunday).
Friendship Center. Church of the Holy Comforter, 737 Woodland Avenue SE, 9:00am-1:00pm (Tues and Thurs).
Art Shows at the East Atlanta Library. 400 Flat Shoals Avenue. Meeting room. Open during regular library hours. Ask at the circulation desk if the room is locked and unoccupied. Shows typically change every two months. Check the library lobby area on the bulletin board and inside the library for additional information.

September 15-16 Atlanta Neighborhood Charter School Annual PTCA Yard Sale. ANCS Elementary Campus, 688 Grant Street SE. Join us for our Annual PTCA Yard Sale, where you’ll find incredible deals and steals in every category imaginable. All funds raised go directly to ANCS, and leftover items are donated to the Kidney Foundation. 8:00am-3:00pm.
September 18 Grant Park Neighborhood Association (GPNA). Zoo Atlanta, 800 Cherokee Ave SE, ARC Building, south end of Cherokee Avenue parking lot. Everyone in Grant Park welcome. 7:30pm (3rd Tues).

September 27-30 Flux Projects. As part of Grant Park events celebrating 135 years, Flux Projects presents public art projects examining the health, history, and ecosystem of the park. Four Atlanta artists have been selected to lead projects: Rachel K. Garceau, Rebecca M.K. Makus, Iman Person, and Lauri Stallings. FLUX will extend over four days with focus times on each day and a schedule of events within these times. The event will climax on Saturday night with a participatory, light-based happening. 9am-4pm. www.fluxprojects.org.
September 30 Sunday in the Park. Oakland Cemetery’s fall festival in it’s 40th year! Enjoy living history theatre performances, tours, an artists’ market, food trucks, live music, storytelling, crafts for kids, a historical costume contest, and more. Explore how the cemetery, surrounding neighborhoods, and the city have changed over time and celebrate the local communities that make Oakland what it is today. 12pm-6pm. www.oaklandcemetery.com.

October 13 NIN Fall Gala – VIVA Las EAV. Fall fundraising event helps low income seniors with emergency home repairs. 572 Stokeswood Ave SE (EAV Farmer’s Market). 7pm-11pm.

October 19 Friends of the East Atlanta Library Annual Meeting and Artist Reception for Terry Gardner. 400 Flat Shoals Ave SE. Meet the artist and enjoy refreshments and live entertainment. 6pm-8pm.
October 21 Dogtoberfest 2018. A family-friendly event that promotes responsible pet ownership. Shop vendors and find out information about all your animal needs. There will be adoptables and a raffle for great prizes. The annual Halloween dog costume contest and pet parade will take place with only a $5 entry fee per dog. 572 Stokeswood Ave SE. 12pm-3pm.
