Books and Cookies

By Lynne Bryant

The Friends of East Atlanta Library (FEAL) will welcome the holiday season with a Book and Cookie sale on Saturday, December 3 from 12:00pm until 4:00pm. A large selection of books will be available for purchase including paperbacks ($1.00) and hard cover books ($2.00), along with audio books, DVDs, and other special items. The sale will be held inside the library in the meeting room.
At this time FEAL must suspend accepting further donations until January, 2017. The storage space allotted is filled to capacity already. When space opens up and they are able to accept books once again, the policy change will be announced.
In addition, textbooks or computer manuals will no longer be accepted. These books are large and rarely sell. What can you do with these books? According to the City of Atlanta website, you can RECYCLE hard cover and paperback books by placing them in your curbside recycling bin. Books that have yellowed, torn, and dirty pages filled with roaches or cat hair should also be recycled, not donated. There is also an AAUW Book Drop at 2111 Briarcliff Road. NE, Atlanta 30329-3719, where you can donate current textbooks that are in good condition.
As always, the East Atlanta Library appreciates your support. All sales proceeds go towards programming at the library, and supplies and books that would otherwise be unavailable to patrons. FEAL invites you to support your neighborhood while shopping for a book for yourself, your friends or family, or a children’s storybook for a special little person.
