SEABA Updates
By Ashley McCartney
On June 21, 2012, Cabbagetown’s own Village Pizza hosted our soiree. Denise, the new chef, treated us to a variety of different pizzas, all of which were absolutely delicious. She’s got some awesome new recipes and the pizza is to-die-for. They also have patio seating outside and a brand new remodeled inside. Come check out the new Village Pizza.
We had eighteen guests throughout the evening including four brand new guests. Chad Reilly, curator of the Cube Gallery, joined us and let us in on some exciting things happening at Cube Gallery. Check out the latest at www.thecubegallery.com. Elena Sanchez and Alex Lassiter also attended. Alex is launching a new customer platform business from The Jane and Elena is his public relations intern. Check out www.frequentr.com for more information. We welcome them to the neighborhood! We were also pleased to have Jodi Hersh, a graphic design artist with Orangestar. For information on her services, go to www.orangestar.com.
On July 20, 2012, Zoo Atlanta will host our quarterly business luncheon from 12:00 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. in the Ford Conference Center. Vic Uzumeri and Rick Hudson have kindly offered to share their time and wisdom with us as our guest speakers. The topic will be “Small business systems: Inexpensive and even free!”The presentation will review the range of systems, service and software offerings that are now available to small businesses at very low cost – or even free. These include:

  • Office (Word processing, spreadsheet, etc.)
  • Social business systems (huge productivity tools)
  • Finance and accounting systems
  • Voice and video collaboration systems
  • Cloud data storage and backup
  • • Website hosting and authoring systems

The presentation is given from a user’s perspective and is brand agnostic. Vic Uzumeri, PhD is a former business professor at Auburn University and owner of a small eLearning business (www.ipov.net). Rick Hudson is the CEO of Xanadu Consortium. The cost of the luncheon is $10. Please RSVP to ashmccartney@gmail.com or on our Facebook page.
