The Friends of the East Atlanta Library (FEAL) and the library staff work hard to make the library a great resource for the community. The new branch manager, Hannah, and the relatively new youth librarian, Eden, are offering programming for all ages. FEAL supports their endeavors where needed financially and in promotion through its Facebook page: friendsofeastatlantalibrary.
Check out the latest programs reaching out to middle and high school teens such as Crafternoons, Book Chat, and the Teen Movie Club, meeting August through November to watch The Hunger Games series in preparation for the new movie premiering in November. Story time and crafts options are offered throughout each month. One favorite is Bi-lingual story time which is solely funded by the Friends of the East Atlanta Library. New book clubs offer something for all ages: Teen Book Chat, Middle Grade Book Club, and Pages and Panels, a Graphic Novel Club.
For adult patrons, the library is also expanding its options. Two programs that have been around for the several years include: on the fourth Tuesday of each month FEAL host Friends’ Book Club with book selections chosen by those who attend; and
Motivational Fitness for Older Adults, led by Rae Rae on the first, third and fifth Wednesday of each month. Newly formed Stitch & Sip offers space for fiber arts crafters with a work in progress. They meet on the third Tuesday of the month with tea and cookies provided by FEAL.
Support the East Atlanta Library through upcoming events or as a FRIEND. A community
favorite event is the FEAL Book Sale: EAV Edition on Saturday, September 26, during the East Atlanta Strut. The library will accept book donations on: Saturday, September 12, 10:00am-1:30pm, Saturday, September 19, 2:00-5:00pm, Monday, September 21,12:00-3:00pm and 5:00-7:00pm, and Friday, September 25, 11:00am-2:00pm. Join friends for a dine-out at Jeni’s Ice Cream in Glenwood Park September 17, 4:00-7:00pm where 25% of the proceeds of all sales during that time are donated to FEAL. Lastly, save the date for the FEAL Annual Meeting & Auction on Saturday, October 3, from 3:30-5:30pm.
