Oakland Cemetery – illumine. April 16-19 and April 23-26. When the sun sets, the night reveals light-centered interactive and immersive art in a “gallery space” unlike any in Atlanta. This year, guests can experience illumine in new ways, including the Artist Spotlight Tour tickets, an artist or curator-led tour of the event. With Cat Eye Creative as Oakland’s curation partner for a second year, they have co-curated another talented roster of Atlanta artists for illumine 2026. Whispers of History Walking Tour. Saturday, May 2, 2:00pm-4:00pm. Meet at the EAV Library at 1:45pm. Sponsored by EABA, staffed by BATL. This tour will travel along the front lines of the Civil War Battle of Atlanta and to focal points in historic East Atlanta, providing an action-packed overview of the battle while walking through its most contested land. Ormewood Forest Cleanup. Saturday, April 25 and Saturday, May 23, 9:00am-12:00pm. Meet at the public entrance to the park, 1411 Ormewood Avenue. Trees Atlanta needs volunteers with all experience levels to join upcoming community workdays dedicated to removing non-native invasive plants and supporting native habitat restoration. Learn how to spot and remove invasive species plants as you work along Trees Atlanta staff and trained volunteers. Be part of the team restoring one of Atlanta’s most cherished forests.
