Jackson Jaguars Dominate the Court This Season

Fresh off their incredible 5A Girls’ Basketball Championship win, the Maynard Jackson High School Jaguars continue to prove they are a force to be reckoned with. Led by Cayden Cornish, a junior, (#3, PG/SG), ranked 275th nationally and 12th in Georgia, the team boasts a strong 11-5 overall record, and an 8-2 regional record, second in the region. Seniors Aaliyah Weaver (#1, G) and Janiya McCoy (#5, PG/SG) bring experience and leadership to the lineup.s

The Jackson Jaguars boys’ basketball team is having an incredible season and holds a 14-3 overall record and 9-1 in regional play putting them at second in the region, with a #34 state ranking. Leading the way is junior Donaven Thomas (#5, SG/PG), the team’s top scorer, alongside senior Cameron Dover (#24,SF/PF), who recently received an offer from Navy. Senior Maximilian Young (#3, SF) and junior Braylen Johnson (#1, PG) have been key contributors, with Braylen proudly representing Maynard as a three-year varsity player. Senior Javon Gardner (#2, PF/C), who returned this year after playing at Maynard during his sophomore year, has earned an offer from Bevil State and is impacting the court. Meanwhile, the Grundy brothers, Landon a sophomore, (#4, PG/SG) and Lavarien, a senior (#20, PG/SG/SF), are adding fresh energy and making an immediate impact in their first year with the team.
