Atlanta’s Favorite Holiday Home Tour Features Winter Wonder and Tombs, too

By Rebecca Wallace

The Grant Park Candlelight Tour of Homes is just weeks away, and the committee is excited to share some details to help you plan the weekend of December 14 and 15. A returning family favorite is the magical Winter Wonderland put on by the Grant Park Parents Network. Little ones can explore sensory bins, dive into a fun-filled snowball pit, and get creative at the winter-themed coloring tables. The whole family will enjoy the talented performers of Rise City Dance, Neighborhood Ballet’s youth performing company, as they bring beloved holiday classics from The Nutcracker’s Land of the Sweets to life. Warm up at our hot cocoa bar and grab a festive treat for the road.

Speaking of hitting the road, tour goers should plan to start out early on Saturday for a chance to explore some of our neighbors’ “forever” homes. The Candlelight Tour has once again partnered with the Historic Oakland Foundation to offer a walking tour of Oakland Cemetery with the purchase of a VIP ticket for $40. At 5:00pm on Saturday, December 14 only, tour goers can explore the spectacular, Victorian garden cemetery and treasured Atlanta landmark. On this one-hour walking tour, you’ll discover the history, beautifully curated and maintained landscape, and unique architecture that give Oakland its distinctive character. The tour begins at Oakland’s historic Bell Tower.

“We are thrilled that such a beautiful historic treasure is a part of our Candlelight Tour,” said St. Paul UMC Pastor Cassie Rapko. “Oakland is a perfect bookend to our own historic sanctuary, rounding out a truly unique home tour experience.”

Tour tickets are on sale in advance through midnight Friday, December 13 at GrantParkCandlelightTour.com for $30 each, and at the church the day of for $35. VIP tickets for the Oakland tour are $40 each and can only be purchased in advance on the website.
