35th Grant Park Candlelight Tour

By Jessica Harlan
For some, the telltale chill in the air or the sound of carols on the radio signifies the start of the holiday season. But for Grant Park residents, what really puts them in the spirit is the Candlelight Tour of Homes.
At this annual event, the owners of this historic neighborhood’s most spectacular homes open their doors to showcase beautiful interiors, lovely landscaping, and festive decorations. The sound of carolers echoes through the quiet streets; holiday shoppers browse the Artist’s Market; and children get to share their wish lists (and a photo op) with Santa Claus himself. Rounding out the weekend is the St. Paul Choir concert as well as Winter Wonderland, an afternoon of activities and events for kids organized by the Grant Park Parents Network.
To celebrate the Tour’s thirty-fifth anniversary, expect to see new features and attractions. The organizers are also collecting memories of tours past, such as photos and stories. If you have some you would like to share, please email them to Sonia Fuller at sffuller@bellsouth.net.
Tickets will be $15 in advance and $20 the weekend of the tour and will be for sale online and at local businesses. The proceeds of this event benefit three Grant Park’s organizations: St. Paul United Methodist Church, the Grant Park Parents Network, and the Grant Park Cooperative Preschool.
Artists and crafters can still sign up to sell their wares at the Artist’s Market, and there are still sponsorship opportunities available. For more information on either, please email candlelighttour@stpaulgrantpark.org.
The committee is still choosing the final homes to participate on this year’s tour. If you would like more information about showcasing your home, please contact Rob Smith at 404-906-5857 or via email at rob@robsmith.biz.
