Everyone’s favorite summer festival will be back August 23 and 24 with a full weekend of music, food and fun. New this year, festival attendees will get a chance to enjoy a South of the Border fiesta at Taquerias & Tequilas, a ticketed event that will be held each afternoon during the festival.
The weekend of events kicks off with the Adams Realtors 5K Run for the Park on Saturday morning, allowing runners and walkers to enjoy the historic neighborhood on foot. The festival officially opens at 10 am with tons of art, the Carla Smith Kids Zone, live music and food and beverage booths galore.
The music line-up on two stages gets better every year. Recent festivals have welcomed performers like Michelle Malone, The Whiskey Gentry, Cigar Store Indians, Blair Crimmins & The Hookers and Lee Bains III & The Glory Fires.
The new Taquerias & Tequila features a TexMex take on fare from several of Atlanta’s favorite restaurants and chefs. Guests will enjoy tequila and beer sampling, mild to picante bites and even get the chance to smack a piñata. The Grant Park Summer Shade Festival is pleased to partner with the Georgia Restaurant Association on this event. Tickets start at $30 and will be available at www.summershadefestival.org beginning August 1.
Sunday morning festivities begin at 9:30 am when the Grant Park Farmers Market opens, followed by festival hours starting at 11 am. The al fresco party doesn’t stop until 7:30 pm.
From families looking for the next great puppet show to adults hoping to whoop it up one last time before fall begins, the Grant Park Summer Shade Festival offers an ideal way to spend an entire weekend in the great outdoors. Proceeds from the festival benefit the Grant Park Conservancy, the organization responsible for maintaining Atlanta’s oldest city park.
Don’t miss the 12th Annual Grant Park Summer Shade Festival, Saturday, August 23 and Sunday, August 24. Find updates and information at www.summershadefestival.org.
