On May 26 over 50 neighbors and art friends gathered at the East Atlanta Library to fete the current art show artist, Renee Ruffin. It was Memorial Day Weekend and the Friends of East Atlanta Library celebrated the day and Ms. Ruffin with a hotdog cookout and all of the fixin’s. Guests enjoyed viewing the work and hearing from the artist about her artistic endeavors as an artist, teacher and gallery owner. Her show at the library features paintings, drawings and mixed media works that include landscapes, floral fantasies, and African themes. Many readers may recognize Ms. Ruffin from her day job as a teacher or downtime as a neighbor in the area. Currently she works at Drew Charter School with the High School students providing inspiration through her artwork and instruction. The show displayed on the gallery wall of the meeting room will remain until the end of July. It will be open for viewing during regular library hours when the meeting room is not in use (of course attendees at meetings and other functions in the room get to enjoy the artwork when they are there). To visit the show art lovers can gain access by asking at the circulation desk. The Library is located at 400 Flat Shoals Avenue in the East Atlanta Village.
