Poker, Recycling and Scavenging: March 25 in East Atlanta Village

By Carlen Hultgren

March 25 looks to be a very activity filled day in East Atlanta Village. Pedestrian traffic should be lively, but no street closures!

The day starts at 10:00am with the return of the spring version of the biannual Neighbor In Need Poker tournament. The Midway Pub will once again host the event, and Poker with a Purpose (Atlanta Poker Club), will be dealing out the cards on this fun filled Saturday. Come play some cards, join the fun, win great prizes, and support a great charity, Neighbor in Need (NIN) of East Atlanta. Afterwards, stick around to watch the March Madness Games at Midway.

Spots are limited to 50 players, so sign up early. Start with a free stack of 300 chips and each donation buys you more: for a $20 donation, get 2000, for $40 get 4500, for $60, get 7500, and for a $100 donation, get 15,000 chips. Great prizes will be awarded.

The event takes place Saturday, March 25, from 10:00am to 2:00pm at Midway Pub at 552 Flat Shoals Avenue. For more information or to sign up, email , or sign up on the Google signup pagw: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1.

While the poker players are counting their chips at Midway, just across the street at the East Atlanta Farmers Market, Ecycle Atlanta will be gathering up old and used electronics and make a donation to Neighbor In Need, based on what comes in. There will be music, snacks and cornhole. Get rid of the old electronics, for all the new you already have, and know it will be recycled in a conscience manner. Ecycle Atlanta’s proven philosophy is to recycle, re-purpose, or re-market whenever possible, which means that they strive for an Earth friendly, Zero Landfill policy. While they accept almost anything electronic, please note that they cannot recycle old TVs or CRT monitors.

You can drop off old equipment at the Farmers Market at .

And if the above wasn’t enough, the Strut Scavenger Hunt returns to the Village, this year to the early spring line up of EAV activities on March 25. (.
